UK Sport and the British Swimming Team
The Challenge
The customer for this project was the British Swimming Team, working in conjunction
with UK Sport. The high level aim was to improve a Swimmer’s performance and results
in Olympic events, through the provision of analysis and statistical tools, for
Sport Scientists and Coaches. These tools would link together past and current performances,
training regimes, diets and video analysis.
How We Met the Challenge:
Cell Telecom performed the requirements capture through interviews with Swimming
Sports Scientists, Coaches and UK Sport’s Head of Research and Innovation. In response
Cell telecom created:
- An online repository of Raw Race Data (extracted from Video), Training Logging Data
and Race Event Data.
- Analysis Tools provided to produce reports, graphs and statistical data
- restricted access to site and tools according to role of user
- A secure online system delivered in three stages
- A proof of concept project: to build online video library of swimmers accessible
by coaches and scientists to analyze technique

End to End Mobility Solution
The Challenge
To create a community based mobile application that provides real-time sharing of
mobile multimedia content, photos and videos, to a web-based browser application.
The solution enables real-time communication between the mobile handset and the
web application by Text messaging (SMS). The mobile application has Global Positioning
System (GPS) integration, so that the server side can display the location of the
photos on an internet map.
The mobile solution was developed with and successfully used by the West Sussex
Local Education Authority (LEA).
How We Met the Challenge:
- Project established to define and describe the mobile to server solution
- Project delivered and tested, initially on a Nokia S60 platform
- End-to-End Solution tested and deployed by West Sussex Local Education Authority
- Web-Server and SMS Gateway hosted at Cell Telecom
- Mobile Application ported to iPhone, Windows Mobile and JAVA
- Mobile application ported to Symbian Secure platform v9.x

Animal Healthcare
The Challenge
To develop a secure Website system to centrally administer payments and membership
plans of hundreds of veterinary practices nationwide. Provide e-commerce tools for
managing customer payments, financial reporting and issuing of invoices and letters.
Provide veterinary surgeries with a system to administer their own customers and
tools to produce reports and invoices.
How We Met the Challenge:
- System comprised of an admin site, two extranets (for the two main umbrella companies)
and two websites for the public
- System built using ASP.net and SQL server database
- The sites provided secure logins and SSL to secure the system
- Tools for financial reporting, business tools and process management all incorporated
into sites
- E-commerce tools provided for direct debit management and payments
- Full testing of software and site. Automated testing using QTP
- Hosted and maintained by Fujitsu and Cell Telecom
